In the hustle and bustle of modern life, it can be all too easy to forget the essence of fun. Our blog, Fun Slow, aims to remind us that slowing down can be just as enjoyable, if not more so, than living life at a constant breakneck speed.
This piece will serve as a testament to the benefits of taking things slow, even in the face of modern conveniences like ebikes, and to remind us all that “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fun.”
When I go on my slow long rucks, walking with my coyote brown GoRuck GR1 26L and my Snubby Recon HPG kit bag and my old pair of Nike Pegasus 38s, I need to remember I am having fun so I have been walking walking walking then then I have been jumping on the random rental ebikes that are all around Arlington, Virginia.
So, when I get tired of walking, I will jump on basically an electric moped and zip around the neighborhood actually having a blast and then I’ll drop the bike off and then continue walking walking walking. The riding the E-Bike gave me a break and cooled me off and was a nice relief and when you’re as slow as I am, zipping around on an e-bike is like being on a rocketship.
This makes it easier for me to get around and to make sure I make all of this exercise away from the WORKing out to it becoming much more like play. And I like that. Because this site is called Fun Slow and out slogan is Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fun. Enjoy! Play! Have fun! Even if it’s slow!
In a world that is increasingly fast-paced, it can be difficult to find time to slow down and have fun. But slow fun is important for our mental and physical health. It allows us to relax, de-stress, and connect with the people and things that matter most to us.
There are many different ways to have slow fun. You could go for a walk in nature, read a book, spend time with friends and family, or simply relax in a hot bath. The important thing is to find something that you enjoy and that helps you to slow down and relax.
One of my favorite ways to have slow fun is to go on a ruck. A ruck is a long walk, typically carried out with a weighted backpack. Rucking is a great way to get exercise, clear your head, and connect with nature.
Walking, as simple as it is, forms the core of my slow fun. Every stride, every breath, and every heartbeat while walking allows me to connect with myself and my surroundings. There’s a meditative quality to it, one that is amplified when carrying the weight of a GoRuck GR1 26L and the Snubby Recon HPG kit bag. Old Nike Pegasus 38s on my feet maintain the continuity of tradition, tying the present moment to countless walks of the past.
However, slow fun is not about being static or boring. It is a dynamic concept that invites us to explore different modes of enjoyment. In my case, when I need a change of pace or when fatigue starts to creep in, I turn to the ebikes that dot the streets of Arlington, Virginia. These ebikes serve as metallic steeds, providing a quick and easy escape from the monotony of the walk, offering a completely different perspective of the neighborhood, almost like being on a rocketship due to my accustomed slower pace.
These ebikes don’t detract from the ethos of slow fun; they complement it. They provide a jolt of adrenaline, a brief respite from the slower pace of walking, adding an exciting dimension to my slow, enjoyable journey. They allow me to transition seamlessly from a slow, methodical walk to a fast-paced ride, highlighting the spectrum of experiences that slow fun can encompass.
I like to add a little bit of fun to my rucks by renting an ebike. An ebike is an electric bicycle, which means that it has a motor that helps you to pedal. This makes it easier to get around, and it also adds a bit of excitement to the ride.
The joy of slow fun lies not just in its pace but in its philosophy. It encourages us to savor every moment, to appreciate the journey as much as the destination, to find joy in the simple act of moving, whether it be by foot or on an ebike. It reminds us that we can make all of our activities, even exercise, feel more like play if we allow ourselves to slow down and truly enjoy the ride. So, let’s embrace the motto of our blog, Fun Slow: “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fun.” It’s not just about being slow; it’s about having fun at your own pace. So let’s take a moment to slow down, to breathe, to enjoy, and most importantly, to have fun!
Slow fun is important for our health and well-being. It allows us to relax, de-stress, and connect with the people and things that matter most to us. So next time you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take some time to slow down and have some fun. You’ll be glad you did.
