How I Lost 53 Pounds and Improved My A1C with the Carnivore Diet

I’ve always been overweight. I remember being the fat kid in school, and I always felt self-conscious about my weight. I tried every diet under the sun, but nothing seemed to work for me. I would lose weight for a little while, but then I would always gain it back.

I was starting to get really discouraged. I felt like I was never going to be able to lose weight and keep it off. Then, I heard about the carnivore diet.

The carnivore diet is a very restrictive diet that consists of only meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. There are no fruits, vegetables, grains, or legumes. I was skeptical at first, but I was willing to try anything.

I started the carnivore diet in January of 2023. I was really strict at first. I only ate meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. I didn’t drink any alcohol or coffee. I didn’t even eat any vegetables.

I lost weight quickly. In the first month, I lost 20 pounds. I was so excited! I had never lost weight so easily before.

I kept up the carnivore diet for three months. In that time, I lost a total of 53 pounds. I went from a size 18 to a size 6. I was so happy with my results!

The Cheat

I know what you’re thinking. Eating only meat, fish, eggs, and dairy sounds like a very restrictive diet. And it is. But there is one cheat that I use that makes it a little bit easier.

If I am not into cooking and am feeling poor and not interested in going to an Outback or someplace nice with a nice Ribeye or don’t have the time to cook up a big batch of bacon or eggs at home or I am away from home all day long and need to feed myself beef and eggs, fat a protein, McDonald’s always comes through.

I eat a McDonald’s sausage egg and cheese biscuit without the biscuit. I’ll also eat six double cheeseburgers without the buns. I give the buns to the crows and house sparrows that live in my neighborhood.

And it’s cheap because I use the McDonald’s Mobile App and they offer endless deals on $1, $2, $3 Dollar Meals and also 2-for-1 deals that often feels like they’re just giving the food away.

McDonald’s uses 100% pure beef in its burgers, including the McDouble and Double Cheeseburger. They claim their beef patties are made from 100% pure beef, without any fillers, extenders or preservatives.

ChatGPT-4

McDonald’s uses 100% pure beef in its McDouble and Double Cheeseburger sandwiches, which is a high quality ingredient. However, the beef is not necessarily surprisingly high quality. It is ground beef that is made from a blend of chuck, sirloin, and round cuts of beef. The beef is then mechanically tenderized, which breaks down the muscle fibers and makes the meat more tender. This is a common practice in the fast food industry, and it does not necessarily mean that the beef is of poor quality.

The beef in McDonald’s McDouble and Double Cheeseburger sandwiches is also not certified Angus beef, which is a higher quality grade of beef. However, Angus beef is not always necessary for a good burger. The beef in McDonald’s sandwiches is still flavorful and juicy, and it is a good value for the price.

I know it sounds like I’m cheating, but I’m not. I’m still eating a carnivore diet. The only difference is that I’m judiciously removing all the bread and carbs that come with the McDoubles and the Double Cheeseburgers and giving them to the local crows and house sparrows! I don’t know why, but this cheat helps me to stay on the carnivore diet. It gives me something to look forward to, and it helps me to feel like I’m not depriving myself.

The Results

I’ve been on the carnivore diet for six months now. I’ve lost a total of 53 pounds, and my A1C has gone from 7.8 to 5. I feel great! I have more energy, I’m sleeping better, and my skin is clearer.

I’m not saying that the carnivore diet is for everyone. It’s a very restrictive diet, and it’s not easy to follow. But if you’re struggling to lose weight, and you’ve tried everything else, I encourage you to give it a try.

Conclusion

If you’re considering trying the carnivore diet, I encourage you to do your research. There are a lot of resources available online. And if you have any questions, I’m always happy to help.
